Dancehall reggae is the sound of rapid fire Jamaican patois vocals and infectious melodies over hypnotizing rhythms of pulsating beats and hard hitting bass. This style was born in the dancehalls of Jamaica decades ago and, when taken to Jamaica Queens, New York, evolved into what we know today as rap/hip hop music. This predecessor of today's urban music in the USA is still growing stronger than ever, with Jamaica boasting more record releases.
